What if I just want to breathe the atmosphere in town?

Which are the best areas where to stay in Turin during Eurovision Song Contest 2022?

PalaOlimpico Alpitour – PalaIsozaki is placed on the southern part of the city, few steps away from Torino FC stadium. It’s not downtown but might be a good choice to find a place in Turin during Eurovision 2022.

Another suggested area is Santa Rita, quite close to the event. If you’re looking for something more downtown, comfortable to visit Turin, you can search for an apartment in Crocetta (where tram 4 stops) and San Donato (line 10). Turin city center is well connected but is also more expensive, especially during event days.

I don’t suggest you to pick an apartment or a room at Barriera di Milano zone, and generally talking, all northern suburbs. Turin is a safe place, but that area is not as safe as the rest of the city.

How to get to Turin Eurovison Song Contest 2022 by public transport?

As said before, the easiest way to reach PalaOlimpico Alpitour – PalaIsozaki fromTurin center is by tram, lines 4 and 10. Bus line 14 could be a good alternative too.

There’s just a subway line in Turin and it doesn’t reach Palasport. The closest stop, Carducci Molinette, is 20 minutes foot-away.

Turin public transports cost 1,70€ for a single trip ticket (100 mins) or 4€ for a daily ticket.

You can buy tickets and save money (and time) from official GTT app (and validate the ticket if you have an Android smartphone with NFC technology). You can also buy from self service ticket machines in every subway stop, and buy tickets from most of cafes and tobacco shops.

During Eurosong contest days public transports in Turin will be empowered: subway should end service at 1:30AM, and from the 2nd of May night buses services Night Buster will be available again.

If you’re wondering it: no, get there by car is not a wise choice. Better by bike or electric scooter.

What to eat in Turin and where?

Turin food culture is well known worldwide, and goes over the “usual” bagna caoda and gianduiotto chocolate.

If you want to taste it at its best I suggest you to have at least a dinner in piola, typical piedmont taverns, and taste specialties like vitello tonnato (slices of veal with tuna sauce), raw meat cut “al coltello”, agnolotti del plin (handmade filled pasta) cooked with meat sauce, and red wine braised meat

Turin is the city where aperitivo was borned. So it’s almost mandatory to honour this tradition chosing  between these famous locations for an aperitivo in Turin, or – if the weather is fine – having an outdoor aperitivo here.

Where to have fun in Turin by night?

You’ll be spoilt for choice about going out for some fun in Turin. The most crowded zones are San Salvario and Vanchiglia. Piazza Vittorio Veneto and surroundings are well known by youngsters too, as well as the Borgo Rossini area, next to corso Regio Parco. At Quadrilatero Roman, downtown, there are several nice bars and clubs too.

All the zones are full of nice places where to sip an aperitivo, drink an after dinner cocktail or have a beer. Turin have several college faculties, so is not hard to find young people willing to have fun ‘til the next morning.

What to see in Turing while waiting for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022?

It depends on how long you plan to stay. If you’re just leaving the next day you could read this itinerary to visit Turin in less than 24 hours. If you wish to stay for the weekend, here is a 2 day itinerary.

Generally speaking most of Turin attractions are located downtown or not that far away. You can easily hang around by bike or feet, you won’t need public transport.

Some unmissable spots are Mole Antonelliana, where is hosted the national museum of Cinema; piazza Castello with its Savoia Royal Mansion; piazza San Carlo, well known as the “city lounge”; piazza Vittorio Veneto and Gran Madre church, with an amazing view on Po river; Valentino park, probably the most beautiful park in town.
